The EVA Tucker Brighter Future Fund

Raisng money for the seriously Ill children of Great Ormond Street Hospital

After Eva passed away Daniel and Danielle wanted to give back to the hospital that gave them the gift of time with their daughter. So they approached the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity to see what they could do in her memory. The answer was for them to join the Brighter Future Fund, which is part of the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, with all money raised going straight to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Projects so far

The Eva Tucker Brighter Future Fund has been going since June 2018 and has already taken part in some amazing projects.

Toys for Eagle Ward

While Danielle was visiting all the nurses, doctors and families of Great Ormond Street’s Eagle ward in April 2018 she was told that all of the toys on the ward had to be disposed of because there had been a serious outbreak of Norovirus on the ward and it was the only way they could be sure to stop it from spreading. Norovirus can be very deadly to children with no immune systems. Having lived on the ward with Eva, Danielle knew how important the toys were to the children, they helped to distract them from the painful and very long treatments that they needed to keep them alive, and just brought joy and happiness.

Danielle then made it her mission to fill the toy room back up, and that is exactly what she did. She received so many toy donations that Dan asked JCO Group if they would donate their time and van to deliver them with Danielle to GOSH. The amount of donations filled the van to the top, which meant there were even enough to give to the outpatients department as well as fill the Eagle Ward toy room. The response was truly amazing and showed Danielle just how touched people were by Eva’s story and the great cause that is Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The children of Eagle ward were over the moon with their new toys, and even created some beautiful hand-made thank you cards for Danielle to give out to people who donated.

The Eva Tucker Brighter Future Fund also recently took part in the RBC Race for Kids 2018 race around Hyde Park. The team included many of Eva’s family, Danielle Tucker, Brandon Tucker, Kennith Tucker, Amy Tucker, Michelle Youngs, Dean Youngs, Eloise Youngs and Ashton Youngs. It was a beautiful day and the atmosphere was electric. Everyone was having so much fun. They set a target of £500 and was blown away by the support and donations they received. They raised a total of £1,860 for Great Ormond Street Hospital, and plan to do the run each year because of how much fun they had.

Share some joy, donate a toy!

Nobody wants to spend the festive season in hospital, but Great Ormond Street always goes above and beyond to try and make it as magical as possible. So to help spread the joy we are asked people to buy one extra toy this Christmas to donate to the playrooms and children of Great Ormond Street Hospital. The response we got was fantastic and we hope to run the same campaign next Christmas.

Eva’s JustGiving Page

Eva also has her own donation page on the Eva Tucker Brighter Future Fund JustGiving webpage, where people who feel moved by her story can donate to Great Ormond Street in her memory. So far the page raised £920.
